How does DMI Distance Learning work ?1. The teacher connects to their virtual classroom on the DMI e-learning portal through a standard internet connection.2. The pupil(s) at the school also log into the portal and enter the teachers virtual classroom. This is a two way video and audio conference with whiteboard. 3. The lesson takes place. ![]() 4. Private study periods are also timetabled by the school to allow students to complete assigned work and email it back to the teacher. 5. The lessons consist of 2 x 1 hour sessions per week for 30 weeks each academic year. 6. At the end of the 30 weeks DMI will also schedule extra lessons for revision. There is NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE for this. What happens on the course? There are set text books that the pupils work from, both in and out of the conferenced sessions. The school will need to provide these. The pupils are taught rather than tutored and this allows for a more flexible approach encouraging the teacher to utilise different teaching styles and to differentiate work.Pupils learn different subjects at different speeds and abilities and because of this the teacher is given specific targets to reach and is monitored on these targets throughout the course. This provides a strong teacher focus both on individual students and on course structure. Timetabling & support The 2 hours of lessons should take place at the same time every week and will be timetabled in consultation with the school. Private study periods should also be timetabled to allow students ample time to complete their work. Schools are recommended to provide a link tutor with who the teacher can communicate and keep up to date on individual students progress. A named link at the school for technical support is also recommended. Quality Control DMI operate a quality control procedure to ensure that our courses run at the highest possible standards. We regularly check on the progress of lessons and the teachers are encouraged to meet regularly online. | Skip Login LoginCalendar
